South Africans have followed with keen interest the past four years of Donald Trump's presidency and the transitional government of Joe Biden, who was inaugurated last week.

The Biden campaign's stated objectives for its Africa policy were vague and lofty: promoting and expanding democracy, diplomatic relations, diversity and inclusion.

The question now is what is South Africa's relationship with the US in the context of America's ongoing transition?
