Judge Siraj Desai steps into his new role as Legal Ombud

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed recently retired Honourable Justice SiraJ Desai as the Legal Services Ombud. It follows discussions between Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola and the president, who appointed Judge Desai in terms of Section 47 of the Legal Practice Act No. 28 of 2014. Desai will serve in the role for seven years with the mandate to advance and safeguard the legal profession by investigating complaints and alleged maladministration.
