Hunt’s Tough Decision

Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles continued with a draw against Bloemfontein Celtic which sees the Soweto giants positioned 13th on the DStv Premiership table. Amakhosi have struggled to find their rhythm this season, and haven’t won a league match since October 27th when they defeated Chippa United 1-0. Several senior players have come under fire, including goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, who was dropped from the squad after two costly goalkeeping errors in back-to-back matches. Amakhosi coach Gavin Hunt is left with a tough decision as to whether Khune should remain as his number one choice goalie.
In the SL Podcast’s latest episode of The Carwash with Teko Modise and Sean Roberts, the crew debate Hunt’s options in Chiefs’ goalkeeping department. Former Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns keeper Roberts argues that Khune should be given another shot, while former Down’s midfielder Modise makes the case that Khune should be dropped, as outfield players do not receive the same leniency as goalies for there errors. In the full show, Modise and Roberts also debate what Amazulu coach Benni McCarthy’s targets for the season should be.
