“Shalulile hasn’t even reached his peak yet”

Mamelodi Sundowns made no secret of their intentions when they conducted their transfer business, signing 13 new players as they hope to push for honours in four competitions this season. One of their signings, Peter Shalulile (formerly of Highlands Park) has already made a strong start to life in Chloorkop, forming a deadly front three with fellow new signee Kermit Erasmus and reigning PSL Player of the Season Themba Zwane. Former Sundowns star Teko Modise argues that while Shalulile has started excellently, he still hasn’t reached his peak, despite his strong start with three goals and two assists.
In the SL Podcast’s latest episode of The Carwash Modise points out that Shalulile has often found himself on the defensive end of the pitch due to his high work-rate, stating “I don’t think that Shalulile has actually reached his peak that he [hit] at Highlands Park. The kind of work that he’s putting in is very impressive, his defending duties, his chasing down, he’s selfless on the Sundowns team. Imagine when he starts [only] focusing on his strength. I think that’s a team that will grow and be even more dangerous in terms of the scoreline.”
In the full podcast, Modise and former Sundowns goalie Sean Roberts provide a wrap of the PSL transfer window, preview the weekend’s league action and break down the situation at TTM, which reportedly saw players abandon training due to unpaid salaries.
