Earlier this month, Shaykh Agha Ali Yaseen, one of the last four remaining Guardians (Aghwats) whose job is to take care of the Masjid al Nabawi and the burial chamber of Profhet Muhammed (PBUP) has passed away in Madina.
For centuries the tomb has been watched over by this group of Guardians, brought originally from Abyssinia. And its said that the current generation of Guardians will be the last.
Adel Al- Qurashi, a Saudi photographer from Riyadh, began an extraordinary journey by making portraits of the historical significance as documentation of their final generation.
Adel Al- Qurashi's style constantly captivates with strokes of whimsicality and mystery. His first solo exhibition was hosted at the Leighton House Museum in London, and his works appeared in several exhitions and art collection around the world, such as the British Museum's Middle East collection.
