Senior members of the MJC unsuccessful in making contact with accused Abdul Karriem Davids

A hifz teacher has been re-arrested for sexual assault for the second time. Abdul Kariem Davids was arrested by Grassy Park police on Monday and appeared in court yesterday. He was released on bail. Davids, who was a teacher at Halawat Ul Qur’an Haafith Academy in Ottery, also faces another sexual assault charge, after he was arrested last year. Grassy Park police Colonel Dawood Laing confirmed that the second case was opened on the 11 November. It's believed the matter relates to an incident in May 2007. The MJC issued a statement yesterday calling on Karriem to step down from all positions.
