
How covid-19 has affect sex workers in South Africa

Sex workers amongst the vast majority remain the most marginalised group because their job is not recognised as work in South Africa. According to a study done by SWEAT in 2013, there were 158 000 sex workers in the country at the time, most of whom were female and support up to seven dependents with the income they make through sex work. We speak to Dudu Dlamini, advocacy offer at SWEAT (Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Task Force) as well as Kholiswa Tyiki to tell us more on how the pandemic has affected sex workers.
