Nobody Wants To Win The PSL

Title hopefuls Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have struggled for form since entering the Premier Soccer League (PSL) bubble, with log leaders Amakhosi only managing four points from a possible nine since football’s resumption, and Masandawana earning just two points from nine much to the disappointment of their supporters. It is Chief’s latest loss to Bloem Celtic which has raised concern, as the Soweto giants had the opportunity to go nine points clear heading into the weekend’s PSL fixtures.
Speaking on SL Radio’s The Carwash podcast, former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise argued “We, as fans of football, are saying Mamelodi Sundowns are not playing well, [they’re] not playing the same way they did before lockdown, [but] imagine if they were playing the same way, it would be a different story now. Kaizer Chiefs should be taking advantage of Mamelodi Sundowns not playing to the best of their ability.”
Former Ajax Cape Town Goalie Sean Roberts added, “There’s no crowds, I know probably Sundowns and Chiefs rely on crowds as a 12th man on the field, do you know what I mean? I believe at the end of the season, and this might sound obvious [but] the team who makes the least mistakes is gonna win the league.”
