As the Premier Soccer League (PSL) & Nedbank Cup resumption approaches, two sides have it harder than most: Mamelodi Sundowns & Bidvest Wits. Between August 8th & September 5th, Masandawana and 'The Clever Boys' will have to play their remaining nine PSL fixtures, as well as a Nedbank Cup semi-final. This also means that one of the two sides will have an 11th fixture in the form of a Nedbank Cup final.
Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane took to Twitter to warn fans of the tough road ahead, stating, “It is going to be an extremely bumpy ride. Buckle up, Masandawana. We are going to need something special to fight to get the last two trophies!" As usual, his statements caused debate among PSL supporters as Mosimane has become a popular, yet divisive figure in the media in recent years.
“I agree with Pitso. How can a team play 10 games in 29 days? God loves all of us. I know we will do it. Good luck downs”, one supporter told SL Radio’s Fan Reaction Show Podcast. Another supporter claimed, “It’s just Pitso Mosimane playing mind games, he’s just up to his old tricks and no-one should listen to coach Pitso at all because we have seen this movie before.”
