People of Note - Zakes Mda

One of South Africa's most acclaimed novelists and playwrights, Zakes Mda, has been back in the country to launch his latest book, tantalisingly titled 'The Zulus of New York'.
Zakes Mda has led the sort of life that could quite easily fill the pages of one of his books. From formidable political lineage - he spent time as a boy living in Nelson Mandela Soweto home - then years in exile - to a glittering international writing career based in the United States, where he continued to write about his home country, including some biting satire that could be construed to be about our current politics.
