Animal Rights should be of huge concern to all sectors of our population, although that is unfortunately not always the case. The Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962 which has been amended quite a few times has advocated massive strides in the treatment of animals; including an end to animal mutilation, the licensing of pet animals by owners in other parts of the country as well as the accommodation of animal welfare by traditional practices.
