Since Lockdown came into effect 53 days ago, lie as we knew it came to an end. This included the simple act of eating out which we take for granted. What the full lockdown literally meant was the closure of businesses as well. For many small businesses this means laying off staff or closing up shop permanently. This afternoon Unathi spoke to Alessandro Khotjane, Founder-Owner and head cook at Gemelli Restaurant and The Pantry, about how lockdown has affected business, and what has happened with the 70 plus staff members normally employed at he restaurant. We also learn that due to the easing of certain restrictions under level 4 of lockdown, Gemelli is now operating a limited menu for home delivery from the kitchen of their spin off all day breakfast kitchen “The Pantry”. Meaning that some of the staff members are back at work and we are able to order some of our favourite Italian dishes.
