Blom Blom with Mpho Letsholonyane (nee Maboi)
Sport presenter and Radio personality from Daveyton in the City of Ekurhuleni.
She went to wordsworth high school (Matriculated in 1997) in Benoni and University of Johannesburg for her tertiary education respectively.
Mpho started her broadcasting career at YFM working alongside DJ Fresh.
Mpho is one of the most respected sports broadcasters in Mzansi but she admits growing up in Daveyton, East of Johannesburg, she never considered sports broadcasting as a career choice. She wanted to be a doctor instead but ended up studying IT.
She became interested in sports because of her father. “My dad loves football. I guess because soccer was always there, I grew to like it,” she explains. She is very proud of how the playing field has changed for women in sports. “There is a good number of us in front of the camera and behind the scenes. A few years back, it was only a handful of us but now we could do a whole show with just women,”.
July 2018:- Mpho Letsholonyane shared a heartbreaking post about the baby she lost 10 years ago. “10 years ago I started wearing this ring on my right hand to commemorate the loss of my unborn child… I wore it as a constant reminder of the 1st time I ever felt absolute unconditional love for another soul. A reminder never to forget,” she wrote.
In an interview she did same month she said: “Today, I retire this ring. I am finally setting myself free from the pain and guilt of not being able to carry you to term… Of not being able to give you life… even though I will still remember to never forget…”
Mpho worked as a presenter where she presents a sport lifestyle show on SABC1 with Lindani Mbense. The show covered all SAFA related interests i.e Coaching, Referees, Soccer Development, National Teams etc.
Mpho got married to a soccer player Reneilwe Letsholonyane in a traditional wedding ceremony on March 24, 2018 and their union is blessed with two children, Keneilwe and Thato Letsholonyane.
