The Good Hope Centre, which is regarded as one of the most "affordable" venues in the city centre, opened its doors in 1976. Groups and organisations such as the Cape Malay Choir Board often make use of the venue which has become popular for exhibitions and doubles up as a conference centre. The venue has also been used for live music events, conferences, cultural performances and also as a public hall and stadium.
