The late Dr Achmat Davids proved in his Doctorate that Afrikaans was first spoken by the Cape Malay. The Stigting vir Bemagtiging deur Afrikaans has acknowledged this and will be hosting an event in the BoKaap called: Stap vir Afrikaans in die BoKaap 2015.
