In a wide ranging discussion the CIO’s touched on the possibility of a reckoning in the technology sector - akin to the breaking up of the railways in the early 20th century. Together with the fact that despite the low economic and earnings growth in the developed world they do not anticipate this decade long cycle to end any time soon. And also that the world needs fiscal spending and the UK under the leadership of this Conservative government appear to understand that and are well placed to make it a reality.
Taking part in the discussion were:-
• Lucy MacDonald – MD, CIO of Global Equities at Allianz Global Investors
• Nigel Bolton – MD, Co-CIO of Active Equities at BlackRock
• Piers Hillier – CIO at Royal London Asset Management
• Guy Monson – Senior Partner, CIO at Sarasin & Partners
• Mark Dowding – CIO at BlueBay Asset Management
