French company awarded driver’s licence tender

IDEMIA Identity and Security South Africa will produce SA’s new smart driver’s licence cards, the Department of Transport (DOT) has announced in a statement. The firm is a subsidiary of French multinational technology company IDEMIA. The team and listeners deliberated on this move by government to award the tender to a multinational organization. Do we k=not have the technological capacity for this function? That was the question on the minds of many.
