Parents are being urged to pay close attention to the labels of energy drinks before buying them for their children.
Over the past few weeks a frenzy has erupted around an influencer endorsed drink called PRIME, with children and parents forking out anywhere between R40 and R795 rand for a 500ml bottle.
Many schools have banned PRIME after reports that kids were re-selling the drink on the playground.
As part of his qualifications, south african performance trainer Garth Milne has studied nutrition extensively.
He says as a father of two boys, he's worried about what's playing out.
