Unemployment a major concern in Namibia

Statistics South Africa’s Quarterly Labour Force Survey data showed that the economy gained 370 076 jobs between the first quarter of 2022 and fourth quarter of 2021. However, in Namibia the unemployment rate is high and most businesses are still recovering due to the impact the Covid-19 pandemic. Namibia is one of the youngest populations in Africa with 2.5 million people and vast economic resources, but youth unemployment is estimated by the United Nations to be 50%. Herbert Jauch a labour expert in Namibia spoke to In The Newsroom.
