On this week’s episode of The DOC & GURU Podcast, we chat Influencer Marketing with a very special expert guest, Kevin Kirby, from Nfinity Media, our long-time sponsor.
As always, we promise an action-packed episode, looking at the hype around influencers and are they really any different to the brand ambassadors/endorsers (of yesteryear) or is it the same thing? Have marketers just got bored again and created some new terms?
How do the different categories of influencers (macro, micro, nano etc.) appeal to different markets and work better with different brands? We also look at what a brand owner needs to do in order to add influencer marketing to their mix and examine some great case studies of influencer-success.
It also seems like influencers have far more leeway on what they can say about a brand, as opposed to an ad-agency that is governed by amongst other bodies, the ARB; but Kevin reassures us that it’s not a total free-for-all. And as much as we tried to avoid it, we also chat the Kardashians and who Kevin thinks is better at selling lipstick!
But then the BIG REVEAL; little did we know that Gordon (the GURU) is a massive influencer himself – albeit, a very grumpy one this week as his two brands of fish paste, Redro (or as I still call it, Wedwo) and Peck’s Anchovette have been discontinued.
