With France Football having recently announced their official 30-man shortlist of nominees for the 2021 Ballon D’or award, it has come as no surprise that Bayern Munich and Poland superstar Robert Lewandowski has been included in said shortlist. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 Ballon D’or awards ceremony was canceled and many around the world believed that Lewandowski was hard done by the most as he was clearly the deserved winner. However, one cannot forget everything that the Bavarian number 9 has accomplished; to name a few, voted the 2020 FIFA Men’s player of the year, broke Gerd Mullers’ Bundesliga goal scoring record of 40 goals (Lewandowski managed to grab 41 goals to his name during 2019/2020 Bundesliga season.)
Robert Lewandowski is one of two players currently plying their trade in German, with Erling Haaland being the other player. Although Erling Haaland may not come across as a favorite, we cannot forget what the young Norwegian has accomplished in such a short space of time and to be shortlisted in the top 30, is a fantastic achievement.
