Hlompho Kekena is a player that is very special to the local game, having spent 10 years with Mamelodi Sundowns, the serial winner’s time at Masandawana came to an end on 31 August, after the club released the player, however, Hlompo feels that he isn’t ready to move on and retire from the beautiful game. It has been reported that Sundowns has offered Kekana an Ambassadorial role at the club, which could continue his ever-growing legacy. Speaking on the SL Podcast’s ‘The Carwash,’ former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates star Teko Modise (also a former teammate of Kekana) speaks on the matter of Hlompo’s retirement, Teko of course has more than enough knowledge behind him and experience; so for ‘the General’ to comment with real-life situations that he faced during the end of his playing career will come at no surprise. Teko continues to say that ‘Hlompho should retire when he is satisfied.’ ‘ When it comes to Hlompho, he still has a lot to offer,’ says Teko Modise. Modise goes on to explain his personal experience with retirement, and what he wanted to achieve before hanging up his boots.
