Belgian football manager Hugo Broos has been announced as the South African national team head coach, replacing Molefi Ntseki who was sacked following Bafana Bafana's failure to qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON). This news follows weeks of speculation linking Amazulu coach Benni McCarthy & former Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz with the role. In the latest episode of The SL Podcast's "The Carwash" (brought to you by Heineken), the Carwash crew give their breakdown and criticism of the decision.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns & Bafana star Teko Modise criticised the decision, being of the opinion that a younger, local coach should've gotten the job if South Africa is looking to rebuild the national team over the next decade. Fellow Carwash host & former Sundowns goalie Sean Roberts also states that he's happy Amazulu coach Benni McCarthy turned down the job, as he is hoping to see him find more success with 'Usuthu'.
In the full podcast, the crew also give their thoughts on the state of SAFA, discuss Oupa Manyisa's struggles and preview the Nedbank Cup final between TTM & Chippa United.
