Former Mamelodi Sundowns & Orlando Pirates midfielder Teko Modise enjoyed a legendary Premier Soccer League (PSL) career, winning back-to-back PSL Player of the Season awards with the ‘Bucaneers’ and capturing two league titles with ‘Masandawana’. The only ‘Big Three’ club which Modise hasn’t played for is Kaizer Chiefs, although there had been rumours linking ‘The General’ with a move to Naturena over the years. In the latest episode of the SL Podcast’s “The Carwash”, Modise confirms that he had various opportunities to join Amakhosi, but they never materialised.
Discussing the failed transfer during the show, Modise reveals “The first time I had the chance to play for [Chiefs] was when I was still with City Pillars. I had been in contact with Bobby. Chiefs is the only club that I can say I waited for. I ended up joining SuperSport United. There are actually three times when I had opportunities to play for Chiefs.” In the full show, the former Bafana Bafana star discusses each time he could’ve moved to Naturena, and the crew debate Kaizer Chiefs’ termination of Siphelele Nthangase, preview the Soweto Derby, and more!
